About Agadir

A city rebuilt by the sea, with mountains at its back

Agadir was largely destroyed by the earthquake of 29 February 1960 and rebuilt as a modern resort around one of Morocco's longest city beaches. Above it, the restored walls of Agadir Oufella keep watch over the port.

  • Mild Atlantic climate, with sunshine for much of the year
  • The western High Atlas begins less than an hour inland
  • Agadir Al Massira airport is about 25 km south-east of the city
